Rebuilding the former Hungarian Red Cross Headquarters
Originally designed by Alajos Hauszmann in 1901, the Red Cross Headquarters was demolished in 1946. The National Hauszmann Program is restoring it to its former glory. Structural analysis confirmed that the original basement walls were sound and could support the new structure. The new design replicates the original five-story style with corner domes.
Modern elements, including a glass-roofed atrium, have been added to the interiors. This project fills a significant gap in the cityscape, complementing other restorations in Dísz Square and highlighting the importance of structural analysis in heritage restoration.
